It was another first day of school for Allison (4th grade) and Madison (1st grade)! I drove them from the hotel to the "kiss and ride." It only took about 10-ish minutes with traffic. It's only a few miles away from the hotel. They will ride the bus from the house, and that is only a couple blocks (but crosses a busy street).
The girls liked their teachers. Madison chose to wear a Strawberry Shortcake dress. She made friends with two other girls in the classroom who were also wearing dresses. "The had tan hair and red hair." Allison made a few friends as well, including a girl she met at Open House, and a girl she met on Sunday from her church Primary class.
Both girls already had homework. Madison had to put together a bag of three things that would describe her. (Since all our stuff is packed in storage, we have to be a little creative with our objects!) We have a Madeline DVD about Paris and France, a Littlest Pet Shop animal, and a My Little Pony book. Allison has to do the same bag, except she must have five items and they need to be related to a memory. Fortunately, hers is due Friday, but has chosen to remember: her root canal, our dog Jack, her 3rd Halloween, being baptized, moving, and hearing Santa's bells. Allison also had to read for 20 minutes and practice her multiplication tables.

Allison looks SO grown up! Glad to hear that they liked their school, teachers, friends. I'm sure that will go a long way as you continue getting settled!
Blake's class had the same assignment, but had to come up with 10 different items that fit in various categories. I can't imagine doing it out of suitcases, his was hard enough! Glad to see the first day of school went smooth...maybe Madison will have a better year. :) And it's probably nice to have them gone for most of the day instead of finding things to entertain them at the hotel!
