Bureau of Engraving and Printing

The stars finally all arrived on a good day to visit this D.C. attraction that was on our list.  We thought that Parker would be too bored and you can't take strollers in, so there was no point in taking McKenna, too.  However, they are only open Monday-Friday except for Federal Holidays.  No way were we going to get up early and stand in lines for tickets with all the summer tourism.  We finally had a day where the girls had school off for teacher workdays and Jeremy was also available.

 There was a place where they could measure them to see how tall they were in $100 notes.  They took a tour and learned all about the Engraving process.  There were stacks and stacks of money separated in denominations.  Allison was impressed that one machine could print 14 colors at the same time.  After the design, ink, and codes (numbers) are placed, the money is wrapped together in $16,000 bundles.  Below, one picture is of pictures of President's engraved by the Engraver's who do the money.  The other photo is the "loot" that they came home with.
