Michigan trip-Family History part

Sarah's parents drove up from Florida (and used the new bathroom) to stay a couple days.  Then, Sarah left with them for Michigan.  Yes, this left Jeremy behind with the house, kids, and schedules.  Insert your own comment or thougth (here).

Here's a bit of our family history via pictures.  The Utica Cemetary side entrance sign with the Chapoton (my mom's maiden name) standing tall near the center of the picture:

In the center of the cemetary is "the old Chapoton part".  This is where Domonic and Harriett are buried.  They were born in 1822 and 1825.  They were the first ones to settle in Utica (after the previous generation had settled in Mt. Clements and all the previous generations had settled in Detroit.):

In downtown Utica, there is a street that bears our family name.  The other street had many homes of other family members, as well as the family owned and run clothing store and hardware store.

This is the house that my mother grew up in, though it looks a bit different.  My mom's sister actually owned the house for a little bit of time later and I remember visiting her, my uncle, and my two cousins and sleeping and playing there one trip.

An e-mail from my mom in October, 2011:
"was talking to sydne today. she was looking at your blog while jim was teaching a class. she wanted to make a correction. she said that the windows that dad made were made in the basement of the Hahn street house ( the one that he grew up in and that is no longer there), not the deschon street house. our house at 8220 hahn street was built in 1949 and the deschon street house was built in 1954. neither house has a basement.


my grandparents, willard frank and Alta lived in the Hahn Street house (not there) with the 6 boys. She died in 1948. Then my grandfather remarried, Ethel. They lived just out of town for awhile, then moved into the Deschon Street house when it was new. After she died, I remember a "housekeeper" for awhile, then my grandfather remarried, Lucille and I believe that they lived in the house intil he died. She moved out and then it was rented."

This is the house that belonged to her dad's parents.  They are on two different streets, but they share the same corner, so in the the back, the backyards also touch each other.
