Putting the Animals to Bed

Yes, the real animals, not the kids.  Sarah took Parker to a nearby farm owned by the local parks and recreation department for a night called "Putting the Animals to Bed."  Parker had a blast!

We started by playing on one of the kid-sized tractors:

Then, we met the "farmers" and talked about how animals actually go to bed.  Many of them like a bedtime snack, just like little kids.  Here Parker is feeding a billy-goat:

Then, we walked around the farm to see where they sleep.  The chicken coop is only open at night, so this was fun to go inside and see them all:

Part of the fun of the night was being able to bring and use your own flashlight.  This was just as fun:

We also talked about all the different ways animals sleep and compared them to how people sleep.  Parker thought the pigs were fun.  He told me that everytime a piglet moved, it was trying to wake the mommy pig up...hmmm, wonder why he would say that?! :

And, last, we got to pet a baby peacock (which are the farm's alarm to something not right on the farm); sing the song "Old MacDonald Had a Farm" with corresponding hats; and sit on a blanket to drink juice, eat animal crackers, and listen to the story "Going to Sleep on the Farm."
